ACID Properties in DBMS and MySQL
What are ACID Properties?
ACID are four properties that guarantee reliable transactions. Every DBMS exam asks this.
The Four Properties
| Property | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Atomicity | All steps happen, or none do |
| Consistency | Database stays valid before and after |
| Isolation | Concurrent transactions do not interfere |
| Durability | Committed data survives crashes |
Example
In a bank transfer: Atomicity ensures both debit and credit happen together; Durability ensures that once committed, the transfer survives even a power failure.
Summary
- A = Atomicity, C = Consistency, I = Isolation, D = Durability.
- Together they make transactions reliable.
